Tom Hanks Considering Role In Kathryn Bigelow's 'Sleeping Dogs'

Emma StoneFROM SPLASH PAGE So, Emma Stone really has hit the jackpot with a role in the "Spider-Man" franchise's forthcoming reboot — except it's not what we thought it was.


In a press release, Sony Pictures announced that Stone is joining the series not as Mary Jane Watson, but as Gwen Stacy, Peter Parker's ill-fated first love. Stone is the second actor to join the cast of director Marc Webb's "Spider-Man" alongside Andrew Garfield as your friendly neighborhood web-head.


"It's been an incredible journey for us to watch Emma's star rise as an actress," said Columbia Pictures president Matt Tolmach of the casting announcement. "She is extraordinarily talented and has a very special on-screen spark that is perfect for this role. Given her history with the studio, casting her in one of our most important franchises is a real thrill."
